On Appropriate Disobedience

We have no better instrument to gauge
elite betrayal than our forlorn rage
at seeing migrants fill our homes and streets.
With power comes impregnable conceit. 
But anger that sparks dignified protests
is lasting change’s ultimate behest
while violent riots mar the highest cause
with bystanders’ bruised limbs and bloody gauze.
The media is globalism’s shill
and justifies our overridden will
with puff pieces on migrants that delight
in demonizing us as the “far right.”
We’ll block newsrooms where propagandists slink
till fair reporting is their standard ink.
